My favorite thing about quilting, besides the creative outlet that I find it to be, is the wonderful community of quilters that I know both in person and online.

I LOVE the tangible piece of history that quilting passes along through the ages. I have quilts from my husband's grandmother whom I never met but can see her frugality from using recycle material (old shirts etc.), her determination to keep her family warm, her mistakes seem perfectly placed b/c she obviously had something else on her mind while sewing. The same applies to my grandmother's quilts. Quilts are a remarkable gift that gives over and over through time! I hope my family (and the family ones I will never meet) see the same in the quilts I make. Sorry for the longwinded answer.

There are a few things about quilting that I would say qualify as favorites. I love that with my efforts, I have something to show for it in the end (not at all the case with my job) My quilting time is quiet, focused, and peaceful (again, not at all like my job!) I love that I can give things I make away as gifts, and unlike canning and baking, no one gets fat because of them!

My favorite thing about quilting is that it reminds me of my grandmother, whom I miss dearly. I feel close to her. I also love spending time with my best friend Lisa, when we get together to do a project.

I'm new to quilting, but I've found out quickly it is so much fun and relaxing. But most of all, I love the thought of the quilts I make being handed down to my grandchildren and their children! And maybe when they use them they will think of me :)
